“I’m a moderately active gal. I participate in the occasional 5k and enjoy hiking Cowles Mountain. I like to challenge my fitness in the occasional 6-week challenge or interval cardio training. For as long as I can remember I’ve dealt with chronic pain in my hips. My hip pain would make it uncomfortable at times to sleep, bend, or even sit. Over the years I’ve had three distinct “flares” where it would be nearly impossible for me to walk, bend, sit, sleep, or basically do anything for days at a time.”

“A few years back I was finally told it was Sacroiliac Joint Dysfunction (SI), which basically means my left hip tilts backwards. Because I was told SI is muscular, I tried massage therapy to learn stretches to relieve the pain. I also went to physical therapy to learn exercises to strengthen my muscles. I pretty much resolved that I would have to “deal with” the pain, never thinking I could live a life completely pain-free.”

Skeptical

“Many many many times, it was suggested I see a chiropractor, but I was skeptical for a few reasons. First, I’ve never been to a chiropractor and because I thought I had a pretty good understanding of my body, I questioned how a chiropractor could help me? Secondly, I know it’s bad, but I’m a girl who can crack her own bones, so I figured I would probably undo any progress a chiropractor would make. Lastly, every time I tried to find a Groupon or Living Social deal, the Yelp reviews were horrific. So, again, I just resolved to a life of pain thinking I could manage it since I had a “high tolerance”!

“In April (2015), I signed up to help support one of my friends in the 50-mile MS Challenge Walk (September 2015). I started a walking program and by July I was up to walking about 20 miles per week. I was impressed with the intensity of my walking program, but felt my fitness could be challenged more, so I began to incorporate an interval running program. A week later, I had a “flare” and basically couldn’t walk without limping and had difficulty sitting and bending, which would wake me up at night. My family made fun of me telling me I looked broken and my younger sisters asked me, “is THIS what I have to look forward to when I’m your age?”

Within my first week of seeing Dr. Young, I was able to walk without limping!

Again, I heard “you should go to a chiropractor”. But, this time my cousin was able to address my concerns by suggesting “go to a NUCCA chiropractor.” After a lengthy discussion about how it helped her, why it would benefit me, and researching for NUCCA chiropractors in San Diego. I finally called Intouch Chiropractic and talked to Joselyn who truly did ‘make my day’!”

“Within the first month, I had a significant reduction of pain in my hips. And, I even experienced a few full nights of sleep without waking up in pain. After attending the orientation, I was able to make further adjustments in my day-to-day life and had more body awareness.

It’s been over three months and I have almost zero pain in my hips. I have a better understanding of my body and I sleep through the night. Also, now know I DON’T have to “deal” with the pain! Thank you Joselyn for making every office visit one I look forward to. And a BIG thank you to Dr. Young for having the patience to go through the peeks and valleys of my progress. Also, for giving me the hope I now have that I CAN lead a pain-free and healthy life!!”
